Air compression is accomplished by the interaction of a fixed scroll and an orbiting one. Air at inlet pressure enters the compressing chamber at the exterior side of the scroll element. Once air is drawn in, the orbiting scroll seals off the inlet port. As the scroll continues orbiting, the air is progressively being compressed into an increasingly smaller “pocket”. Then a constant flow of compressed air exits the scroll element though a discharge port in the center of the fixed scroll. This process is continuously repeated, generating the delivery of the pulse-free compressed air.
